Though I started fasting before I got this book, based on the information found in
The Obesity Code: Unlocking the Secrets of Weight Loss and Dr. Fung’s website, this book has now become my bible of fasting.
It is comprehensive. Everything Fung says is backed up by study after study. He has a panel of experts giving their take and opinion of the various fasts. He goes into detail about the different kinds of fasts and what to expect. There are motivating real people stories … especially Jimmy Moore’s opening chapter which is a long and detailed account of HIS journey into fasting.
The FAQs chapter answers pretty well any question you might ask and the DIABETES information is invaluable and incredibly motivating.
There is even a chapter of recipes … what to eat on EATING days!
As much as I love Kindle, this is one of those books that reads much better in print. There are loads of charts that make more sense in the print edition and there are lots of expert tips that also read better in the print edition. It is also much easier to flip to the page of information you are looking for! I have both editions and my print edition is already looking like it has been used for years instead of a month!
The Complete Guide to Fasting:
Alternate-Day, and Extended Fasting
Thousands of books have been written about the latest and greatest diets that will help people lose weight and improve health. But a key element in any successful nutritional health program is a tried-and-true method that most people haven’t thought about—yet it could be revolutionary for taking health to the next level. This ancient secret is fasting.
Fasting is not about starving oneself. When done right, it’s an incredibly effective therapeutic approach that produces amazing results regardless of diet plan. In fact, Toronto-based nephrologist Dr. Jason Fung has used a variety of fasting protocols with more than 1,000 patients, with fantastic success. In The Complete Guide to Fasting he has teamed up with international bestselling author and veteran health podcaster Jimmy Moore to explain what fasting is really about, why it’s so important, and how to fast in a way that improves health. Together, they make fasting as a therapeutic approach both practical and easy to understand.
The Complete Guide to Fasting explains:
- why fasting is actually good for health
