One of the biggest “sand traps” when you are on a Diabetic or any of the Low Carb diets is what you drink. Even so called healthy drinks such as fruit juices are packed with sugar. Diet and “sugar-free” pops are for the most part sweetened with Splenda. If you are Diabetic, Splenda drives your blood sugar up as much, or more than sugar does.
If you frequent Starbucks, all those frappos, cappos, iced teas and coffees are filled with sugar. Over the holidays, commercial Egg Nogs are filled with so much sugar it is frightening. So is chocolate milk and hot chocolate. Most of the yogurt drinks on grocery shelves are heavily laced with sugar. Yogplait? They tell you it is healthy for your kids. They are KILLING your kids … just look at the carb counts on the back of the bottle. Throw it away.
The bottom line is: what you drink is as important as what you eat.

Low Carb, Sugar Free Drink Recipes
The Sangria-Style Cooler is an easy, non-alcoholic and diabetic-friendly party drink that you will definitely like to add to your buffet table. Kids can drink this because this is made out of fruit extract orange, unsweetened grape juice, diet Ginger Ale and a mix of fresh fruit including oranges, lemons, limes, pineapple, seedless grapes, peaches, and strawberries.
NOTE … it doesn’t say in the recipe but you should not use sweetened orange juice or grape juice.
If you are Diabetic, the small amount of Ginger Ale should be OK, if you stick to one or two glasses. OR you could make the cooler with Soda Water and a teaspoon+ of Stevia liquid concentrate instead. If you are using Stevia, start with 1 teaspoon of the liquid concentrate, mix and taste and then add more if you want it sweeter.
If you like to add just a little bit of alcohol into your party drink this recipe is for you.
