Pulling On A Pair Of Pantyhose Changed Everything

by Melanie Leave a Comment

What most women can do without a second thought became a major milestone in my weight loss journey.

If you are overweight, putting on a pair of pantyhose can become an impossible dream

The young lady above will never think twice about donning a pair of pantyhose or tights. She’ll put them on in seconds … basically just stepping into them and pulling them up.

For FAT women pulling on pantyhose is a nightmare. NO ONE talks about it and it becomes one of the hidden humiliations that you just suffer through silently.

At my heaviest, putting on of any kind of garment was a trial. If it wasn’t physically difficult, I hated how I looked. Nothing fit properly, it either bagged or stretched. I loathed the way I looked and felt.  The mirror was NOT my friend.

At my fattest (around 280+ pounds) my thighs were huge.  You know how people talk about uni-boobs?  Well, I had uni-thighs.  ONE mass of flesh from side to side.  NO hope in hell of fresh air where the thighs met.

My thighs were so big and so fat that I could not put my knees together. It was simply impossible.  When I sat, my knees splayed apart.  I not only felt fat and ugly, I KNEW I looked fat and ugly.  I KNEW people thought I was pathetic and would be asking themselves why I didn’t stop eating so much!

To top it off, my legs were stiff and I was having on/off problems with my back. Pulling on pantyhose was TORTURE.  It would take at least fifteen to twenty minutes and I would be exhausted when I was done.

For fat women, putting on pantyhose is pure tortureTo start off with I had to purchase the big thick “tights” type of panty hose because the lighter kind wouldn’t survive the process. The easiest way to get the panty hose on was to lie on the bed with my legs in the air. Then I would leverage myself into my panty hose an inch at a time. Finally I would roll off the bed to get into a standing position.

If you think of a whale jumping out of the water and flopping down in a big giant splash … understand that the whale is having FUN.

To avoid this torture, I simply started wearing pants all the time.   And yes, even the pants were hard to get into.

After I reached the heaviest I had ever been, I had the opportunity to house-sit in Mexico.  The three months I spent there changed my life.  I came back over 50 pounds lighter, and fitter than I’d been in years.

Be sure to read the amazing story of how I lost 50+ pounds without even being aware of it.

A month after I returned from Mexico,  I was invited to a gathering at a friend’s place.  Normally I would have said no, because that’s what many fat people do.  But THIS time I wanted to go.  I wanted to get into a dressier pair of pants and I needed to wear tights to smooth out some of the lumps.

Without even thinking about it, I sat on the end of the bed and pulled the tights on.

EUREKA!!

No legs up in the air. No grunting and groaning. No tortured pulling and stretching and ripping.

EUREKA!!

Progress.

My pantyhose moment became one of the pivotal points in my life.  It was a true understanding that I was becoming healthier and that my life was changing for the better.

I still had a lot of weight to shed, but I was more determined than ever to fully understand how diabetes was affecting my life and how removing sugar from my life would become a mission.

Do YOU have thunder thighs?  Is pantyhose an IMPOSSIBLE dream?

I’m NOT going to tell you to diet, because that is YOUR choice.   If you are overweight, I am going to encourage you to be checked for pre-diabetes or diabetes regularly.  Many doctors have it totally ass backwards.  You do not get diabetes because you are fat,  you MAY however gain weight because you have diabetes, metabolic syndrome or pre-diabetes.

Get A1C tests regularly.  Ask for specialized tests if you aren’t eating more than usual but are rapidly gaining weight.

Buy clothing that FITS.

Squeezing yourself into sizes that are too small actually make you look fatter.  Do you think other people don’t see all the stretching seams, buldging zippers and popped open buttons.   Wearing clothing that FITS actually helps smooth out the lumps and not only looks better, but feels better too.

When I had my pantyhose moment,  Spanks was brand new … I didn’t hear about it until years later.  A pair of “footless” spanks will smooth out the lumps.   A pair of Spanks is much easier to put on than pantyhose.

And GUYS?  Yes, there is Spanks for guys too.

Keep on moving.

You CAN keep fit and exercise even if you are carrying excess weight.  There are studies showing that many fat people are fitter than skinny people.  There are studies showing that skinny people can be dreadfully unhealthy and ready to have a heart attack at any moment.

When I got home from Mexico, I was able to walk 10 to 15 miles without breaking a sweat.  It was liberating!

No matter what you weight,  do yourself a big favor and keep moving.  Walking is easy and can be fun!

Look in the Mirror

No matter how heavy you are, you NEED to make friends with your body.  You NEED to learn to love yourself.  Read How to Look Good Naked and then go and smile at yourself.

If you ARE ready to lose weight

The Slow Carb Diet, is easy and flexible.  There is loads of information and support online, AND there are thousands upon thousands of testimonials from happy graduates.

If you haven’t heard about the Keto Diet, I don’t know where you’ve been for the past few years.  There is a lot of talk about Keto,  but the reality is … it is a hard diet to stick to.  Why even think about it?  It WORKS, especially if you have or are trying to prevent Diabetes.

I’d LOVE to hear about YOUR pantyhose moments!
