Making your own pumpkin puree is easier than you think. You basically bake or boil your pumpkin pieces, scrape the flesh out of the skin and puree in a blender or food processor. Use immediately, or freeze in 1 or 2 cup freezer bags and use throughout the year.
I’ve been asked, if it is OK to use a Halloween pumpkin? If your pumpkin is still firm and the inside is not scorched by candles , and is not slimy … go for it. Felt pen decorations on the outside are OK, because you will be discarding the skin.
