Lisa Lillien has several books in her Hungry Girl series. I simply love each and every one of them.
Lillen’s books feature fun and creative ways on how to turn your favorite foods into low calorie, lower fat recipes.
The Hungry Girl is fun and healthy! Most of her recipes are filled with veggies, lean proteins, and are fiber-rich.
The recipes are designed for anyone who is constantly “hungry” and want to eat something substantial!
There are hundreds of RAVE REVIEWS at Amazon and on other review sites. You simply can not go wrong.
NOTE: While I love many of the Hungry Girl recipes … especially the recipes that give you lots of bulk to fill your tummy, I am not a fan of low-fat. In fact, my Keto Diet plan is HIGH FAT. So …. (big secret) I add healthy fats back into the recipes. Coconut oil or olive oil are my two favorites. If the recipe calls for a teaspoon, I use a tablespoon, if the recipe calls for egg whites or substitute, I use whole eggs.
The bottom line is I love the authors enthusiasm and the fact that she encourages you to EAT and fill your stomach.
Amazon has some of the best bargains for natural and artificial sweeteners that I have seen anywhere. I live in Canada and order from Amazon.com instead of Amazon.ca. Both Stevia, Splenda and Xylitol will last for years, so buy in bulk and save on the shipping.
The packets are the best bargain. Don’t buy the bulked-up version unless you like wasting money. I use the packets for all my cooking and baking.
The best bargain is the pure extract powder. You can make your own “liquid” extract in minutes and for less than 1% the cost of the health food varieties. I’m not kidding!Ery
If I thought sourcing Xylitol locally was difficult, it is easy compared to Erythritol. I have no idea why because Erythritol is one of the BEST sweeteners for diabetics. Create your own mix of Erythritol, Xylitol and Stevia and you are as close to the taste of sugar that you will ever get. You can get Erythritol in bulk here. Do yourself a favor and order a bulk quantity because you can use it in baking, cooking, drinks, sauces AND it does not affect your blood glucose readings.
